In Europe, there is a similar trend towards open-source CMS, particularly in the United Kingdom and Germany. In Asia, the market is driven by the growth of e-commerce and mobile usage, with companies seeking CMS solutions that are mobile-friendly and able to integrate with social media platforms."
Players
Another article, published in early 2025 by Andrew Buck of MobiLoud, points out that the CMS industry is now completely dominated by WordPress.
Introduced on May 27, 2003, Wordpress exploded in popularity and now commands a breathtaking 62.7% of the global CMS market. The remaining 37.3% is composed of a 20% collective of hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of lesser-known CMS oriented products (along with innumerable in-house solutions and a small collection of single-digit players such as Shopify (6.4%), Wix (3.9%), Squarespace (3%), Joomla (2.4%) and Drupal (1.4%) - whose market share is microscopically augmented by the contribution of its many derivatives, including Backdrop CMS and YAD7.
